Disc 1: A video-enhanced CD version of the lately-discovered, excellent mixes from 1977 of the seminal ‘L.A.M.F.’ album.

Splitting from the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan formed The Heartbreakers in 1975 and after working the NY Max’s/CBGB’s scene came to London just in time to be lauded as influences on the fledgling UK punk scene. Joining the Sex Pistols, Damned & Clash on the infamous ’76 ‘Anarchy’ tour, The Heartbreakers and their charged-up rock’n’roll became a key element of the punk explosion on both sides of the Atlantic.

‘L.A.M.F.’ was originally released on Track Records in 1977 after six months in London’s top studios – but although the album contained classic (and much-covered) songs, arguments about the mixing compounded by a severe mastering fault led to the band splitting up and all-round disappointment. In 1984 Johnny took 3 nights over a remix for a re-issue, ridding the recordings of the ‘mud’ but not spending the time to achieve full clarity and refinement.

In 1994, Jungle trawled through the hours of tapes from the original 1977 sessions, found long-lost excellent mixes and selected the best for this definitive re-issue. Repackaged in the original artwork, plus 12-page booklet with comprehensive sleeve-notes by Thunders’ biographer Nina Antonia, and enhanced with a MPEG video of ‘Chinese Rocks’, at last ‘L.A.M.F.’ (Like A Mother-Fucker) can now be heard the way it should sound.

Track-list: Born To Lose / Baby Talk / All By Myself / I Wanna Be Loved / It’s Not Enough / Chinese Rocks / Get Off The Phone / Pirate Love / One Track Mind / I Love You / Goin’ Steady / Let Go / Can’t Keep My Eyes On You / Do You Love Me; VIDEO: Chinese Rocks

Disc 2: The bonus disc 2 features alternative mixes from various studios, and two demo sessions from early and late 1977. It also includes previously unheard instrumental backing tracks together with false starts and studio chat, giving a unique insight into the studio sessions. It comes together with an info-packed 24-page booklet, with notes by Nina Antonia and for the first time including the lyrics to all Heartbreakers songs and background notes about each song by the Heartbreakers’ guitarist Walter Lure.

BONUS DISC 2: Demos: Born To Lose, Chinese Rocks, Let Go, Studio rehearsals: Goin Steady (instr), Baby Talk (instr), Pirate Love (instr), Born To Lose (instr), Chinese Rocks (instr), Do You Love Me, Live: Can’t Keep My Eyes On You, Alternative Mixes: Get Off The Phone, All By Myself, It’s Not Enough, One Track Mind, Demos: Too Much Junkie Business, London Boys.
