Johnny Thunders - unreleased 'Short Lives' 12" single test pressing, numbered edition of 40

A Johnny Thunders test-pressing of a 1986 single that never got released!  A cover was designed by our in-house artist & designer Blodgett Waxwing (aka Alex McLaren) with 98 faces of late celebrities who lived the 'Short Lives' that Johnny was singing about. 

40 x 12" test-pressings were made, of which we can find 38.  Eventually, Johnny requested to do his own remix of 'Short Lives', and record the 'Que Sera Sera' single - and this project got shelved.

The 12" includes an extended mix of 'Short Lives' (Deathly Mix) - which has never been made available before or heard anywhere!

A numbered (1-38, actually!) limited edition, packaged with the artwork properly printed as a wraparound 250gsm silk card in a PVC sleeve.  Each copy also comes with an original 1985 printed shop flyer advert.  An instant collector's item!

NOTE 1:  Disclaimer: some of these 12" singles have been reported to skip, particularly on Cool Operator when played on a basic record player - but also have played completely fine on a good turntable.  Being at 45rpm and pressed at MPO there should be no reason for that, other than that the bass signal on the Black Cat Mix may be excessive, and/or the arm weight of the cheap record players were somehow not compatible with these grooves.
